This article arises from a teaching interest in contributing to the preparation of education professionals, focusing on the development of oral language in students with intellectual disabilities, with the aim of enhancing the quality of teaching for all and addressing diversity. The research acknowledges the usefulness of studies conducted; however, it is considered that they are not always sufficient to conceive work with oral language aimed at enhancing its development in students with intellectual disabilities. This is due to the identification of current deficiencies in the professional performance of teachers in general, and particularly in the theoretical-methodological mastery of the methods and procedures to be used, as well as the treatment of the specific difficulties related to oral language. The proposal aims to enhance the professional performance of teachers in developing the oral language of students with intellectual disabilities, in order to dimension collaborative work within the teaching-learning process, enriching and developing communication while considering the characteristics of the oral language of these students. Various scientific methods, both theoretical and empirical, were employed during the exploration to achieve the outlined objective. In light of the difficulties found in teacher preparation for the development of oral language, the authors designed workshops that contribute to the professional performance of teachers in utilizing varied methods and procedures to develop the oral language of students with intellectual disabilities.
