Teacher preparation. Improvement strategy regarding pre-professional practice in Polytechnic Institutes
Keywords:
preparation, pre-professional practice, strategy, self-improvementAbstract
Based on the problem of insufficient teacher preparation regarding the pre-professional practice of accounting students in technical and vocational education, a professional development strategy was developed. This strategy includes both theoretical and practical activities, and its validity was verified through practical assessment and consultation with users to analyze its impact on educational transformation. The selected sample consisted of teachers, technical and vocational tutors, and officials from the municipality of Old Havana, who participated in the training activities. These activities addressed the theoretical foundations of pre-professional practice and proposed content to be covered with students in each accounting subsystem. Data collection methods included interviews, surveys, and document analysis. Triangulation of the information ensured the accuracy of the results. The initial assessment revealed insufficient teacher understanding of the objectives and content of pre-professional practice and a lack of training activities in educational institutions. The implementation of the professional development strategy and the subsequent validation results demonstrated notable improvements in teachers' professional development, even among those not specializing in accounting. User feedback confirmed the level of satisfaction among the research beneficiaries. In conclusion, teacher preparation is a challenge for Technical and Vocational Education, which is entrusted with the responsibility of training future workers and fostering the well-rounded and harmonious development of their personalities.
