Education is a social need, but at the same time, it is a reflection of the social conditions in which one lives and a determining factor for future projections. In this sense, the profession of Social Work is anchored to the social responsibility of the State in the development of its social policies. In the Cuban case, the profound structural changes that arose from the triumph of the Revolution led to the assumption that they were sufficient to achieve the levels of equality, justice and social development to which the revolutionary project aspired. However, despite the unquestionable results of the social policies of the Revolution, problems persist that demand the improvement of the professional practice of Social Work, to fulfill its "double objective" of "developing both people and societies." "This article has the objective of reflecting the results achieved in the systematization of the theoretical foundations and references of the direction of the professional training process in the career of Mid-Level Technician in Social Work to respond to the demands social issues that arise, and allowed the object of study to be identified, through theoretical and empirical research methods, which are recognized by Educational Sciences, to influence the processes of implementation of social policies and the achievement of equity. , social justice and human development, which at the same time contributes to transforming situations of vulnerability of individuals, families (households), groups and communities and their environments.
